I remember I remember
I remember drinking with my friends while I had the house to myself for a few days, I was 16. The place wasn't trashed but the kitchen was pretty far gone. A sweet girl that a friend of mine was in love with that I never saw again told that me cleaning was fun when buzzed. We had a gallon jug of some nightmarish mixture of everything we could cull from various parental liquor cabinets without putting too much of a dent on any individual bottle. I put Moondance on the turntable in my room, pointed the speakers at the kitchen and we went to work, me and that girl with curly hair; the tiny kitchen got clean, I washed the dishes. She elbowed me and said "see, that was easy". Everything was perfect and I knew it. Generally those days we were listening to Check Your Head, or Pink Floyd or something, nothing folksy. Derek said "this music is so good!"
We just played side one a few times, then it was time walk in the dark over a small hill then up a larger hill to attend the Homecoming dance at the High School most of us had already dropped out of.
Everybody that was there that night is still alive. Well, I guess I don't know about the girl, I think she was from Tacoma.
